Connect with Facebook: Click on the blue Connect button on the top of the page to connect your Digital Journal account with Facebook. Note: If you don't see this button it means you're already connected.
Post an original news article (Special): Hover over the red Contribute button at the top of the page and click Post News. Note this feature is for Digital Journalists only (if you're not yet a Digital Journalist, you will be prompted to become one). On this page, we're looking for you to submit a news article with an interview or on-the-ground report where you are the source. A press conference, sporting event, an interview with a politician -- these are examples of what we call original reporting. When you're submitting your article, be sure to check the "Extra effort" box to indicate your article is an original report. Here's more info on original reporting.
Post an "In the media" article: Hover over the red Contribute button at the top of the page and click Post News. Note this feature is for Digital Journalists only (if you're not yet a Digital Journalist, you will be prompted to become one). On this page, we're looking for you to submit a news article or summary based on sources you've found online. Did the President announce something? Did a company launch a new product or service? Publish a news article and link to your sources so readers can learn about what's happening. Here's more info on linking to multiple sources and publishing an "In the media" report.
Post a blog in a Group: Click on the Groups link on the top of the page and check out various Groups created by Digital Journal members. You can create your own Group, or join an existing Group to blog as a collective. Once you create or join a Group you will see a link on the page to "Add a new blog entry." Click this link to post a blog in a Group. You can see an example of a Group here.
Submit a revision on a news article and have it approved: Go to on any news article and click the "Edit" button found at the top right. Submit editorial suggestions on spelling, grammar, missing words, etc. and then click "Submit revision." The Digital Journalist who wrote the article can then approve your edits. Here's more info on submitting revisions.
Upload Top-rated original photography: Hover on the red Contribute button on the top of the page and then select Upload Images. Or add original photos in an article or blog. You'll be taken to a prompt where you can select images on your computer to upload, and be sure to check the box indicating you took the photos. You will earn points for uploading original photography that people Like. So every time someone clicks the Like button on your original photo, you earn points. We've structured it this way to reward quality images with lots of points!
Post a blog: Hover on the red Contribute button on the top of the page and then select Post Blog.
Log in to your Digital Journal daily: Visit Digital Journal each day and read news, share stories that you find important and Like content submitted by others.
Receive Likes on content: Every piece of content you upload comes with a "Like" button for others to click. You earn points every time someone clicks a Like button on your content, so be sure to share your articles, blogs and images with friends. The whole front page is sorted based on what people find important (more info).
Like someone else's content: Click on a blog, news article or image you think is interesting or important and then click the green "Like" button. The whole front page is sorted based on what people find important (more info).
Post a comment: Scroll down to the bottom of the page on news articles, images and blogs and post a comment and share your thoughts on the content.
Points, Badges & Achievements
Ever wonder how you stack up against other writers, bloggers, photographers, editors and contributors? How active are you compared to them, and how many people are reading and liking your work compared to others' work?
Digital Journal has a solution for that with our Achievement & Badge program.
Digital Journal members can perform actions across the Digital Journal network such as posting news articles and blogs, uploading images and connecting to Facebook. Each member is given a certain number of points for completing actions and the people with the most points and who are most active can earn badges.
Those who are the most active in specific categories win an achievement badge for the month that comes with some cool perks and notoriety. Check out more info here!
