As a freelance journalist and photographer, I am based in Cape Town, South Africa. I am originally from The Netherlands, but was raised in Rwanda and Angola, lived in countries including the United States and Israel and moved to South Africa in 2004.
I kick-started my journalism career in 2002 when I was hired by a Dutch daily newspaper. Over the years, I have worked and written for the Cape Times, Inter Press Service, various Dutch national newspapers including Het Financiele Dagblad, The Big Issue South Africa, Leadership Magazine, and both inflight magazines of Emirates.
