Born (1936) and raised: Chicago and Michigan. Now retired from the University of Washington (Seattle), as professor (1969-92), living -- since 2002 -- in Melbourne Australia. Also previously served higher education institutions in Michigan, Massachusetts, Australia and Ukraine. Kayaking, fishing, and camping among favorite activities. Off and on again short story writer, sometimes journalist. Married to an Aussie artist, the lovely Angie Morgan.
