PLAY Preschool Silverlake Makes Educational Announcement for Parents and Students at Home During COVID-19 Pandemic

As the CDC continues to encourage parents and children to stay at home, schools have to work together with local health departments in order to slow the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

PLAY Preschool Silverlake provides guidance for parents as well as their students during this time where many people have questions not only about how they can protect themselves from exposure to COVID-19, but also how parents and children can be productive during this time and make the most out of their experience.

Schools play a very important role in the effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by preventing exposure and contamination through their own establishments via students and faculty. By closing schools, the US government and CDC both believe this measure will drastically help diminish the number of COVID-19 fatalities as a result.

PLAY Preschool encourages students (and parents for that matter) to involve movement in their home curricula, whether that comes through dancing, stretching/yoga, exercise, or even through playing games indoors, like silent ball, hide and seek, and more.

“We do feel spending time outdoors during this crisis is important, as long as the 6 foot rule is adhered to. Young children are happy to play in their backyards, when available, and walks in the local community are encouraged while adhering to the CDC guidelines of social distancing,” says PLAY Preschool Program Director, Karna Bluegrind.

Teachers and instructors at PLAY Preschool do not rely on stock YouTube videos for their instruction. Instead, they’re creating new content during this time in order to provide timely advice and education for both children and parents.

PLAY Preschool Silverlake also advises parents (if applicable) to read stories and watch educational shows in foreign languages, which will help stimulate and engage new parts of the mind. If parents and children are able to continue foreign language learning during this time, it will give kids a considerable advantage moving into the next school year.

Parents are encouraged to be present with their child during these trying times. It is important to focus on creating a calm and comfortable environment for the entire family, as both child and parents alike are adapting to the changes. Being fully present during lessons, stories, and playtime can help create a calm certainty for your child which can help lessen the stress for everyone.

PLAY Preschool educators, staff, and administrators also advise parents and children to utilize a wide variety of online learning tools and websites in order to get a full spectrum of education during this unprecedented time of school closures, many pre and elementary schools having been closed for the rest of the school year.
