The once tallest flagpole in the world, The Kew Flagpole, in Kew, south west London, is to be taken down as it has become unsafe for flag flying. The wooden structure was in the Guiness Book of Records in 1959, when it measured 225 feet.

Between January 1 and July 31 2007, 280 ATM machines have been blown up around the country. The damage caused, totals R62.4 million excluding the money stolen. The evidence emerged in a magistrates court, when two alleged bombers applied for bail.

For over ninety years, right up to the present day, anecdotes and pictures of Barney The Goose have appeared in many local publications. Barney was shipped from Ireland along with other geese, to Whitehaven, Cumberland, England, way back in about 1917.

In to-days world, many pets are part of the family. They have their own toys, get fed a special diet. In fact we do anything to keep our pets happy and healthy. A lot of us enjoy a walk more with our dogs in tow, rather than alone, and the dog loves it.

Does a good long life have to mean regular visits to the gym, walking to absolutely no where on a treadmill. We all know exercising the stomach muscles not only keeps tummies flat but strengthens the back too. But not all of us are cut out for the gym.

Well, not me personally, but Oslo University are looking for volunteers to be willingly stung by jellyfish. As if the pain of a jellyfish sting is not bad enough, the volunteer must be sunburned too. They are testing a new sun screen.
