Athens - The Athens' Ambassador to the U.S. says Greece has been hit by a devastating wave of illegal immigration. He asserts that EU partners offer little practical support to cope with this economic burden.

The construction of a 10.5 km fence on the Greek-Turkish border, intended to prevent illegal immigrants crossing into Greece via the Evros crossing, is now complete. The project cost € 3 million.
