A police boat belonging to the Port Authority police department sank in the waters of Jamaica Bay off of Queens during a training exercise. Nearly a dozen officers on board the vessel had to be evacuated to safety though no injuries were reported.

He drove a rental car from Denver to New York transporting two pounds of explosives, arriving on Sept. 10, 2009. The New York Port Authority Police waved Najibullah Zazi across the border, not stopping him, although the FBI had alerted them.
