Hurricane Michael lost at sea — Not expected to make landfall
Hurricane Michael is posing little danger to the east coast of the United States and Canada. Currently located 1175 miles west of the Azores, Michael is primarily churning up the surf and causing difficulty for water craft that may get in the way.

As of 5:00 PM EDT, Michael had maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and was moving in a northwesterly direction at 12 mph according to the
Miami Harold. The storm is currently a category 1 hurricane, but is expected to weaken to tropical storm status as the day progresses.
The
National Hurricane Center says hurricane force winds extend outward from the eye approximately 25 miles and sustained tropical storm winds extend up to 80 miles. There are no land masses in the path of Michael.
Although Micheal does not currently pose a danger of making landfall,
NBC Miami reports Hurricane Leslie is about 550 miles southwest of Cape Race, Newfoundland with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph .
