Manny Pacquiao distributes cash and relief goods to flood victims

Pacquiao rushed back to the Philippines from the US over the weekend to assist calamity victims in his home province, leaving behind his family who are vacationing in California, following his controversial fight against Bradley in Las Vegas, Nevada, last June 9. In a convoy of around 20 vehicles, Pacquiao motored to the flood stricken areas of Sarangani to distribute money and relief goods. Initially he gave out cash of P10,000 and a sack of rice to flood victims. He pledged to provide lots for relocation outside of the flood stricken areas. “All these are coming from my personal pockets. My gifts for you from the proceeds of my recent fight with Timothy Bradley,” Pacquiao laughing, told Inquirer.net. . The people of Sarangani as well as the millions of fans from around the world knew Pacquiao won by a wide margin over Bradley. A recent survey done by HBO shows 91% of the respondents believed Pacquiao won the fight. Pacquiao asked his supporters to respect the decision of the judges and to move on despite the raging scoring controversy. The Sarangani congressman said he had to help the calamity victims out of his personal funds as he couldn't wait for government to act swiftly due to the bureaucratic red tape. Pacquiao is due to return to the US in a few days to rejoin his family and to fulfill some business and social commitments. Meanwhile, Mexican counter-puncher Juan Manuel Marquez said talks are ongoing between his camp and promoter Bob Arum for a potential fourth fight with Pacquiao in Mexico on November 10. Pacquiao is non-committal on a rematch with Bradley, saying the fans knew he won the fight but if it comes, there is no problem, he added.
