Arsenal-Wigan FA Cup semi-final into extra-time

-

Arsenal forced extra-time in their FA Cup semi-final with holders Wigan after coming from behind to leave the match all square at 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes at Wembley on Saturday.

Jordi Gomez's 63rd minute-penalty put Wigan, who beat Manchester City in last season's final before being relegated from the Premier League, on the brink of claiming another memorable Wembley scalp.

But Germany defender Per Mertesacker, who conceded the penalty, gave Arsenal -- who haven't won a major trophy since lifting the FA Cup in 2005 -- a lifeline eight minutes from normal time when he nodded in a shot from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

If the score is still level at the end of extra-time, a penalty shoot-out will follow.

Saturday's winners will face either Hull City or Sheffield United, who play their semi-final at Wembley on Sunday, in the final.
