It is now clear that golf courses are being used to disguise missile silos, the entrances to elite underground bomb shelters or perhaps secret fuel bunkers, electronic surveillance centres, weapons development labs, biotech engineering, human cloning experiments or interplanetary escape pods. Or maybe the duffers on the links don't want to be photographed at play while their minions slave away at their 9-to-5 death-by-choice. Whatever the cause of this deception, it is going to cause more scrutiny of Google Maps, certainly more interest in the thwarting of public access to information, and more howls of indignation from those who insist that the internet is and always has been a suspect source for information. However one thing does remain clear about these photoshopped images: they are so rudimentary, and so clumsily done, that there might be a career opportunity here for the visually impaired....disguising golf greens as boreal forest, or parking lots, or railway switching years...
