The WHO (World Health Organization) have issued an update with regard to the
coronavirus outbreak.
Coronaviruses primarily infect the upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tract of mammals and birds. Four to five different currently known strains of coronaviruses infect humans. The most publicized human coronavirus, SARS-CoV which causes SARS, has a unique pathogenesis because it causes both upper and lower respiratory tract infections and can also cause gastroenteritis.
The indication, presented by the WHO, is that the 'outbreak' is receding:
"WHO has continued to monitor the situation. No additional confirmed cases have been reported and there is no evidence so far of person to person transmission of the novel coronavirus."
The statement goes on further:
"WHO does not advise special screening at points of entry with regard to this event nor does it recommend that any travel or trade restrictions are applied."
