Well, it is the 22nd of September, and for fellow worshipers of J.R.R. Tolkien, It is Hobbit day! The respective birthday of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, and for me, a day of utter amazement once again in my life, at how such an amazing tale could ever have been told. Of course, I am biased on the basis that I have been a lifelong fan, but I thought I would take the opportunity to go weak at knees and describe how influential and awe-inspiring the man is. A man who inspired a generation of rockers, and not the least among them, but the likes of Alice Cooper, and Led Zeppelin. People who by themselves then became a huge influence on the world. One if the highest selling collection of books in history, poems, other written works, a collection of fan-art almost as large as the mass of the Earth, and seemingly the crux of everything now in modern culture. The films. "The lord of The Rings", has gone down in popular culture, as one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces ever, adored by millions. Now, "The Hobbit" my all time favorite story, is about to be turned into 3 films. With a budget more sizable than Piers Morgan's ego, and Peter Jackson still at the helm, I have already braced myself for another masterpiece. I literally cannot contain my excitement as it's release draws nearer, and I look forward to gurning childishly as I repeat my declarations of love for it to anyone that will listen.
