US Secretary Hillary Clinton to visit Malawi on August 5

United States Secretary Hillary Clinton will visit Malawi on August 5, 2012 which is next Sunday, on her tour of some African nations.
Though the visit has not been officially announced by the US government, Malawi government official said preparations were in advanced stages for the top American official.
Clinton will become a top U.S. official to visit Malawi since the country attained multi-party democracy.

She will meet President Mrs Joyce Banda to demonstrate U.S. support for her government’s democratic reforms since the death of president Bingu wa Mutharika in April. Late Mutharika was sliding the nation back to dictatorship.
Malawi is seeking U.S and other donors’ support to help her recover its economic ills caused by the Mutharika regime which was isolated by donors for democratic and economic mismanagement.
Clinton will also tour other African nations including a one-day visit to Nigeria. She will also visit Cote d’Ivoire.
Her tour will also take her to South Africa where she would hold the South Africa-United States Strategic Dialogue on August 7.
