New ‘flu vaccine for this coming fall

Flu vaccine lots that have been released by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and will be available for US citizens. The FDA have announced that the new vaccines are now available for distribution by the manufacturers. The vaccines are: Fluzone Sanofi Pasteur, Inc. 24 Each year the flu vaccine differs. The formulation is set by the FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC). This year the committee met in Silver Spring, Maryland (on February 28, 2012). This year, the committee recommended that the trivalent formulation influenza vaccines for the U.S. 2012-2013 influenza season contain the following: A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)-like virus; A/Victoria /361/2011 (H3N2)-like virus; B/Wisconsin /1/2010-like virus. A quadrivalent influenza vaccine will not be available for the 2012-2013 influenza season. For more details, see the FDA
