While travelling, hide your money in an empty chapstick tube

If you travel a lot, you might want to be careful where you place your money. One of my friends was pick-pocketed in Paris, and his money belt seemed to be easy prey for thieves.
Why not stash emergency money in a place criminals would never suspect? Hide a few rolled-up dollars in an empty chapstick tube, something small and easily hidden in a jacket pocket, for instance.
The tube might not be able to fit more than a few 20s, but it should be for emergency money as opposed to daily spending cash.
See the attached pic for an overview of how to roll up the bills.
Any other travelling-with-money tips you'd care to share?
