My continuing downhill slide

I had an EMG yesterday and then an hour and a half later I saw the neurosurgeon. He said there is another problem besides the lower back problem which needs surgery. He said he can't do surgery until he can pinpoint what the other problem is and exactly where it's at. I now will have an MRI of the thoracic spine and the cervical spine today. The EMG said there is cord compression. I asked him if that is why I can barely walk and have to use a walker. He said yes it is something from above the upper back that is causing the problem with walking. My legs and part of my feet are now very numb and weaker.
He told me to call as soon as I have the MRI. He told his medical assistant to make a note of contacting him as soon as I had the MRI so he can see it immediately. He said we need to get on this as soon as possible as this has gone on way too long. He said he wants to be able to call me Monday with the results and what is to be done.
I will need surgery and I hope it will be the first of next week.
I have lost so much muscle in my right leg that I asked the doctor if I will be able to walk again. He said yes, but it will take a lot of therapy.
