I always wondered what attributes and characteristics makes a kid "cool" to other kids.
Lets look into any high school. Every high school has various labels put on to certain group of kids. You have the good looking, fashionable and "we are better than most of you in the school" attitude. Then you have the "Jocks", the athletes who are always wearing fashionable gym clothing, cool shorts, and professional team logos on their sweats and coats. The next group are the non-athletes, usually great chess players and so-called "Nerds". Then of course, you always have the "Special Ed" kids who have some sort of disability, either a mental or physical handicap.
Put all of these groups in your school and you have your prototypical high school.
Now there are kids who would fit in between certain groups. You might have the 'good looking, fashionable and humble type of kids who are also athletes. Many combinations here.
Now if you take the "good looking, fashionable and we are better than most of you in the school kids or the "Jocks" and you match them up with either the "non-athletes" or "Special Ed" kids for a few months in extra -after school curriculum, you would witness a "miracle" taking place.
Remember the saying "Ignorance is Bliss", that is still what we have currently in our school system.
Constant inter-action, co-curriculum activities between various school groups is the key to working together and resolving issues like "bullying and constant teasing". The school administration working with the faculty and parents can make your "entire" school with "cool kids".
