Are Editorial and Op-Ed submissions considered Digital Reporting?

I am interested in doing more than mere blogging on personal issues. I am very interested in becoming a Digital Journalist and I have a question or two for the moderators of this blog. Is a Digital Journalist restricted to writing "hard news" stories, or are editorial and op-ed opinion stories also included in the for-pay category? I'm assuming that the editorial/op-ed stories would be relevant to current on-going news stories being reported in Digital Journal and the professional media in general. If current events opinion pieces are considered Digital Journalism, are there requirements and constraints that differ from the hard-news guidelines? - Jonathan Novack (new member)
