Austrian Happy it Wasn't Cold After Honoring His Wager
Rainer Schoenfelder, 29 years-old, lost a bet on Wednesday, and paid for it by having to ski nude down the Lauberhorn.
Mr. Schoenfelder hurt his back and neck in a crash last week. He and his physiotherapist, who had been helping him treat his injuries, had made a bet that he would ski naked down the mountain if his aches and pains had lessened by Wednesday. Well, apparently, the treatments worked and Schoenfelder skied down the mountain wearing only yellow boots , an orange helmet and gloves. Apparently a photographer caught his run and took some photos that have been circulated on the internet.
"Somehow I didn't notice the photographer," Schoenfelder said. "It was an internal bet and of course the whole thing wasn't planned for the public. I am happy, though, that the pains have eased up and that it was not cold when I honored my debt."
The head coach of Team Austria, Toni Giger, said he did not think Schoenfelder would be sanctioned for the stunt.
"I have no problem with nudity in general," Giger said. "I haven't seen the pictures but no one was hurt. ... This was typical Schoenfelder behavior."
