"The United States offers some of the most lucrative incentives in the world to companies that drill for oil in publicly owned coastal waters, but a newly released study suggests that the government is getting very little for its money."
It is important to understand that oil and gas energy is rapidly become the obsolete sources for power. The investment in technology or operations to find new sources are not worth it and the money would be better spent if it were utilized for developing alternate sources of energy. This is happening but would happen much quicker if the government were to re-focus its funding from oil companies to alternative energy sources.
