Abortion Dr. Kermit Gosnell is on trial for the first degree murder of seven babies who were born alive during abortions and then killed, for the third-degree murder of a patient and for other charges.
In 2010 Digital Journal reported the clinic run by Dr. Gosnell being raided by FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration agents. At that time authorities found blood on the floor and fetus parts in jars. The conditions were described as horrific, uncleanly, just abysmal. At that time the clinic was shut down and Gosnell's license temporarily suspended.
In January 2011 Digital Journal reported Kermit Gosnell had been charged with eight counts of murder. Seven charges are for babies and one count for a patient. The Huffington Post reported Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams said, Gosnell "induced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies by cutting into the back of the neck with scissors and severing their spinal cord."
cnsnews.com reports the grand jury said, " Gosnell murdered "hundreds" of born babies over the years, by either suctioning out their brains or slitting the backs of their necks to sever their spinal cords."
This trial has been mostly ignored by the main stream media. As frc.org reported the four benches benches reserved for the media were empty. JD Mullane, one of the few reporters at the trial said "can't shake off the eerie feelings of what he heard there." He tweeted "Sat through a full day of testimony at the Kermit Gosnell trial today. It is beyond the most morbid Hollywood horror. It will change you."
Even though there had been many complaints about Gosnell to the state medical board the clinic had not been inspected since 1993.
cbsnews reports Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams said, "The grand jury went to the scene wearing Hazmat suits."
Humanevents.com reports on two of the witnesses against Gosnell.
Sherry West testified as part of a plea deal as she is facing up to 100 years in prison for admitting third degree murder. West testified she heard one baby "screaming" after a live delivery during an abortion at West's clinic.
Assistant District Attorney Joanne Pescatore asked West for specifics about the incident, West testified, “I can’t describe it. It sounded like a little alien. She said the baby was one of the largest she had ever seen, it was about 18 to 24 inches long.
Steven Massof, was hired by Gosnell and he was never licensed to practice medicine. Massof followed Gosnell and then began seeing patients without supervision. Massof later began doing abortion procedures during the first trimester and then during the second trimester. He testified he saw over 100 babies born alive. They had their necks snipped in what he said was “literally a beheading. It is separating the brain from the body.” He said when it was busy the women were given drugs to induce contractions all at once, Massof told the court that “it would rain fetuses. Fetuses and blood all over the place.”
Dr. Gosnell who faces the death penalty said he is not guilty.
