New York - If you want to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy then tune in to NBC or one of their affiliated networks Friday Night and watch as the Peacock Network features some all-star musicians such as Bruce Springsteen, Sting and Billy Joel.
When Katrina hit New Orleans NBC held a similar event, and while Sandy raged through the metropolis and the outlying five boroughs and through the Jersey Shore pl;ans were being drawn up to bring power back to the people through the healing entity we know as music.
Rolling Stone reports that Stars from around the globe are taping encouraging messages and flying into the the big apple to take part in the telethon which is being broadcast to benefit The American Red Cross.
"It's all hands on deck and everyone's in." ,said Paul Telegdey, who is NBC's President of late night programming and specials in an interview on 01/11/12.
" We're going to try to do this telethon....People are working through the night dealing with logistics. Putting on a show dealing with artists of this caliber is very difficult. Frankly there are substantial transport issues."
The telethon will be shot on the sixth floor of 30 Rock. Musical appearances by Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Christina Aguilera and Jon Bon Jovi have all been confirmed and an all star backing band composed of New York's finest musicians are being assembled as this article goes to press.
So instead of enjoying a take-out pizza or schezuan take- out or even perhaps a six pack or bottle of Madeira take a night off from your regular viewing schedule and watch and donate to this excellent cause while enjoying this unique musical and human event.
The Benefit For Hurricane Sandy airs at 8:00 pm EST on all NBC Networks and affiliates including USA Network, SyFY Network, Bravo Network, E Network, and MSNBC and is being offered free of charge of charge to any and all independent stations and networks. and on the Internet at NBC.com
