The number of Applications available for the Android platform has now reached 700,000, up from 675,000 just a month ago.
In the race for consumer market share between Apple's iPhone and Google's Android devices, A spokesperson for Google has confirmed to CNET yesterday that Android has reached 700,000 Applications available for the android platform, matching the amount previously reported by Apple.
The number of Applications available for a device is a decisive factor for many consumers attempting to decide between a specific platform. Apple has previously led the market with most Applications available for purchase.
Apple recently confirmed the 700,000 milestone when launching the iPad Mini earlier last week. According to Bloomberg, Apple said last week that it has paid $6.5 billion to developers since the App Store was introduced in 2008.
