Salinas - A robber -- armed with a screwdriver or similar tool -- held up a McDonald's on the city's south side, jumping onto the counter during the crime.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, the thief entered the restaurant, 1213 S. Main St., and walked up to the counter. He mumbled something to the shift manager, jumped onto the counter and then over it, Salinas police said in a news release. The robber then demanded money, threatening to hurt the manager if he didn't obey.
The manager complied, handing over an undisclosed amount of cash from the till. The robber, wearing a gray hoodie and a cloth over his face, ran toward Main Street. Police say the robbery was captured on video and are still searching for the man.
A surveillance camera helped lead to the arrest of a robbery suspect last week after an armed heist at the Check N Go, 1554 N. Sanborn Road.
