One Direction (1D) have made US music-chart history as their new single becomes the fastest-selling single by a British act.
The Guardian reports that their latest single, "Live While We're Young", sold 341,000 copies in one week.
This is the second time this year that the lads have made American music history. In May, Digital Journal reported that the British five-member boy band had become the first British music act in history to reach number one on the US Billboard Chart with their debut album, Up All Night.
However, on Sunday, the band failed to top the UK charts, making it to number three, with Rihanna's Diamonds taking the number-one slot. Meanwhile, insiders expect the single to drop out of the UK top five next Sunday.
One Direction, consisting of five lads – Niall Horan (18), Zayn Malik (19), Liam Payne (18), Harry Styles (18) and Louis Tomlinson (20) – have had a meteoric rise to fame despite only coming third in the 2010 UK version of The X
