Housemaid in Saudi decapitates 4-year-old girl with cleaver

An Asian housemaid tried to commit suicide by drinking bleach after decapitating her four-year-old charge with a cleaver in Saudi Arabia.

The brutal slaughter of a four-year-old girl by an Asian housemaid reverberated with tragic consequences. The Saudi Gazette reported the child's mother called her husband when her suspicions were aroused as she could not get into her apartment in Yanbu and the housemaid refused to answer the door. As the child's father, an Arnco employee, speeded home, he ran a red light, colliding with another car and killing the driver. The Arnco employee and a young child in the other car both suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized Civil defense workers broke into the locked apartment and found the body of the slain child. The child's mother collapsed in shock and has been hospitalized. According to Arab News the Asian maid who is in her 30's, has been hospitilazed following her suicide attempt. She had worked for the family for three years. Madinah police spokesman Col. Fahd Al-Ghannam said investigations are under way and the case will be referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution. The tragic events unfolded as Saudi authorities lifted the ban imposed on Filipino maids working in the Kingdom which went into effect on July 2 2011.
