Jen Psaki, spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, took a swipe at Mitt Romney’s foreign policy gaffes today when responding to a reporter’s question during an on board briefing in route to Virginia Beach, VA for a campaign event.
As reported by USA Today the Romney campaign “assailed President Obama's leadership on foreign policy issues” while speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative.
When asked at Thursday’s press gaggle to weigh in on the Romney campaign’s criticism of President Obama’s handling of the follow up to the attack in Benghazi Jen Psaki of the Obama campaign went on attack stating that “every time Mitt Romney has attempted to dip his toe in foreign policy waters, it’s been an unmitigated disaster.”
Since Romney’s controversial comments at the London Olympics – as reported here by The Telegraph – Democrats have been attacking Romney on his diplomatic abilities. Their attacks only intensified after Romney, in Psaki’s words, “jumped the gun in criticizing the President on the night [of the attacks in Benghazi] which is something that, as we know, is not traditionally what takes place in a political campaign given the tragedy and the seriousness of what was underway.”
It is for this reason she states that, “Mitt Romney wants to change the subject, wants to get at a strength for the President, and it’s clear that that’s what’s going on here.”
Attempts to reach the Romney campaign for comment have been unsuccessful so far; updates will be added when available.
