Technology on display, consider thousands of pixels of display, now picture those pixels made of foam blocks being computer controlled! Hyper-Matrix is its name.
The video doesn't require a lot of setup, it's actually rather simple.
Created for an exhibition by Hyundai Motor Corporation by Jônpasang media group, there are thousands of styrofoam blocks. Each block is controlled by its own logic board and circuit and has a separate piston for each block.
Since the blocks are white, they do double-duty as a projection screen and the screen is an actual 3-D screen since the blocks move in and out to accentuate the projected scenes.
Two versions of the exhibition created in South Korea are available to see, one rather short one from audience level and the full length one, from a higher perspective point.
The technology to make this a reality isn't extremely difficult to conceive, but making it a reality is an exercise in using existing technology in a rather fascinating way. This was initially found at Future-Tech.
What a spectacular movie theater this Hyper-Matrix would make!
