A shocking crash involving a race car rolling at least a dozen times off the side of a Colorado mountain was captured on video.
Incredibly, both the car's driver and co-driver survived the horrific accident, which occurred during the
Pikes Peak International Hill Climb at the "Devil's Playground" on Sunday.
Driver Jeremy Foley piloted his Mitsubishi Evolution around a dangerous turn a bit too fast and the car, which was also carrying co-driver Yuri Kouznetsov, skidded off the road and rolled down the side of the rocky mountain. The car flipped at least 12 times over the next 20 seconds, disintegrating into not much more than the safety frame separating Foley and Kouznetsov from certain death.
According to
Evolutionm.net, Foley was amazingly able to extricate himself from the wrecked vehicle, while emergency services got Kouznetsov out.
MailOnline
reports that both men were taken to a local hospital and later released.
On his Facebook page, Foley told fans that he and Kouznetsov were "a little beaten up but nothing major."
The
Colorado Springs Gazette reported that theirs was but one of numerous crashes during the risky race.
