Romeoville, IL. does not make the news every day - or even every decade - but then $24,000 worth of breakfast cereal doesn't get stolen every day. Police say that's how much the boxes of Frosted Flakes stolen in Romeoville last week were worth.
The Joliet News-Herald
reports that the cereal was in a semi-trailer taken from the lot of National Trailer Repair. The thieves were probably hoping for a more lucrative haul to be stacked inside the trailer but as they remain on the lam - maybe having breakfast somewhere? - their reaction isn't known.
Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said that the semi-trailer was worth about $14,000 and that they have no leads in the case. Joliet News-Herald reporter Brian Stanley noted that the thieves have now become 'cereal criminals'.
