A motorcycle racer who had nearly completed a 2-day, 300-mile race struck a deer on a remote stretch of West Virginia highway. But instead of calling it quite, the tough-as-nails competitor hopped back on his bike and finished the race.
Incredibly, the accident was captured on biker
Braden Childers' helmet camera. The video has gone viral since being
posted on YouTube last month, receiving some 319,000 views as of Thursday.
Hurtling down the highway at high speed, a deer suddenly bounds across Childers' path. There's nothing he can do but plough straight into the hapless animal, sending bike, rider and deer crashing to the ground. Within a second, Childers is on his feet and back on his bike, tearing off towards the finish line. Childers said the deer also picked itself up and ran back into the woods.
"I definitely hit the ground sliding and rolling but I just kept rolling and hopped up," Childers wrote on YouTube.
"[The deer] ran into the woods as I got up," he added. "It was already gone when I looked back."
