A Pakistani national has been arrested for the brutal sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl on the Cycladic island of Paros on July 22. The victim remains in a critical condition after being flown by helicopter to an Athens hospital.
The unconscious body of a 15-year-old tourist girl was discovered behind a cluster of rocks on Chrysi Akti beach, Paros, in the early evening, Ekathimerini reported. She had suffered multiple injuries and tests confirmed she had been raped. She had disappeared in broad daylight whilst enjoying a swim with her mother.
Athens News reported a 21-year-old Pakistani national who was working on the island as a hotel gardener, but left Paros for Athens on the night of the attack, has been arrested. Sources have confirmed DNA samples taken from the man match evidence taken from the victim.
The brutal attack shocked the inhabitants of Paros where the perpetrator was dubbed the "dragon of Paros".
