A photo of the suspect named in the deadly Colorado shooting has been released by Colorado University, where he studied neuroscience until he withdrew last month.
In the photo, Holmes is smirking but it is unclear why. Colorado University sent the photo to media outlets after it was learned the 24-year-old was once a student at the school. He went there beginning in fall 2011 but withdrew from the neuroscience program last month.
Holmes is being held by police in connection with the horrific shooting early this morning inside a packed movie theatre screening The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado. At this time, 12 people are reported dead and 38 are injured. The FBI says Holmes was reportedly armed with an assault rifle, a shotgun and two pistols.
It's being reported Holmes is not cooperating with police. Another suspect is still at large.
Around 20 SWAT team members were carefully searching Holmes’ apartment on Paris Street, Aurora, "a process that could take hours because the apartment appeared to be booby-trapped with explosives, Aurora police Chief Dan Oates told reporters," according to the L.A. Times.
