Dubai - With a price tag of $1,010 (Dh 3.700) "The Golden Phoenix" was unveiled at the launch of the Dubai Mall's Bloomsbury bouquet café, making it the world's most expensive edible cupcake.
Rather ironically the unveiling of the world's most expensive edible cupcake took place on a gold plated Maria Antoinette Princess Tea Trolley. The presentation of the miniature masterpiece cost a whopping $28,000.
The cupcake, made from the finest, most expensive ingredients in the world, is the creation of Shafeena Yusuff Ali. According to AME, foodies have eagerly anticipated seeing and tasting "the rich chocolate, gold infused masterpiece."
Emirates 247 reported the ingredients included edible 23 carat gold sheet, gold Ugandan high quality vanilla beans, and premium Amedei Porcelena cocoa from Italy.
Mr Vinay Lall, General Manager of Tablez Food Company said "We have seen people attempt the most expensive cupcakes before, however those cupcakes are not edible as they are incrusted with diamonds and other components. That is why we decided that we would take the realistic approach and present the most expensive 'edible' cupcake in the world using the real meaning of the words 'Let them eat Cake'."
