Mexican doctors spent 10 hours removing a 33lb benign tumour from a two-year-old boy. The giant tumour weighed more than the child who is just 26lbs.
Two-year-old Jesus Rodriguez from the Mexican state of Durang was born with a lump. The growth expanded until it "eventually covered the right side of his body from his armpit to his hip" the Express reported Dr Gustavo Hernandez said.
Dr. Hernandez is the director of pediatrics at La Raza hospital where the boy underwent surgery to have the tumour removed. He said it was the first time "Mexican doctors had removed a tumour larger than the person carrying it."
There have been other such instances of massive tumours being successfully removed. According to the Daily Mail an Argentinian woman had a tumour removed from her womb in 2010 that weighed in at 56lbs. Fox News reported German doctors removed a 40lb tumour from a Saudi Arabian woman in 2009.
