There's a Broadway musical in the works about the singer Cher, of Sonny and Cher fame, and one of the stars who'll star in the musical might be Cher herself. She is helping write the script but can't say when the project might get underway.
The 66-year-old
tweeted about the project on Monday and the tone of her tweets suggest she's in earnest about the musical and about being a part of the cast. She also noted she's part of the writing team for a good reason: "cause I was there & know stories that no1 knows but me!"
The star, the victim of a celebrity death
hoax in January, continues to keep fit and is known for looking younger (yes, with help) so tackling a Broadway musical is hardly out of the question. The musical will feature Cher songs and be divided into three stories, the first meeting Sonny Bono and becoming Sonny and Cher, the second after they part and her career continues solo and the third is the present Cher.
Cher: The Greatest Thing
Cher last did a major tour in 2003 in a show she called 'The Farewell Tour' and has not put out a new studio album since 2001. A new studio album is on the way now, however, and 'The Greatest Thing's is expected out before Christmas. She's also looking at going back out on tour to back it up.
Naturally, the Cher she might play is the present Cher. They haven't gotten to a casting stage so no word on who might play her as a young performer and who might play her while middle-aged. The three Chers in the script talk and interact with one another throughout the musical, she said.
