Chelyabinsk - Caught by a dashboard camera of a vehicle travelling the highway, a truck lost control when its brakes failed, and slammed into four other vehicles.
On the highway outside the city of Chelyabinsk in Russia's Urals, the driver of a heavy Volvo truck completely lost control of his vehicle when its brakes failed.
The truck swerved onto the wrong side of the road and collided with two cars, a KAMAZ truck and a van.
While two people were killed and ten others injured, the Volvo truck driver jumps out of the wreck at the end – physically unharmed but badly shaken from the horrific crash. The driver apparently tried to escape from the scene, but authorities later detained him.
The crash caused a massive blaze, which drivers of passing vehicles, including the driver of the vehicle with the camera, tried to put out with fire extinguishers.
According to officials, the ten injured have been taken to hospital and some are in a grave condition. These included three children, two of whom are hospitalized with serious brain injuries, and one with a broken hip.
