Burger King launches bacon sundae for summer

Junk food junkies in the U.S. will be in their element with the latest summery delight to be launched by Burger King on Thursday. The fast food chain is sending its bacon sundae nationwide following its success in Nashville.

Burger King's bacon sundae debuted in Nashville earlier this year and from Thursday it will be launched nationwide. The unusual combination concoction is part of the hamburger chain's summer barbecue limited-time items, which will be advertised with the new tag line "Taste is King." According to Newsday the bacon sundae contains a massive "510 calories, 18 grams of fat and 61 grams of sugar." It comprises soft vanilla ice cream served with fudge, caramel, bacon crumbles and a piece of bacon. Burger King isn't the only chain to attempt to draw attention by introducing provocative desserts. According to Gothamist other sweet-savoury combos have included bacon and egg ice cream, bacon milkshake and maple bacon sundaes.
