They stole his food. They stole his bed. And in the end, an Israeli man said in divorce court this week, his wife's 550 cats, stole her away, too.
The husband, from southern Israel, was apparently not a cat lover, the Times of Israel said.
Fed up with his feline-fixated mate, MSNBC writes, the man told a Rabbinical Court in Be'er Sheva that his wife's 550 cats, ruled their home.
He explained, for instance, that he couldn't sleep with his wife because the surface of the marital bed was constantly covered with cats "who refused to lie on the floor."
Even going to the bathroom was an ordeal, the man said in his divorce request. He complained that the cats blocked his access to the bathroom. They also did not allow him to prepare meals in the kitchen, the Hebrew daily Maariv reported Wednesday.
And the last straw: when he could prepare meals, by the time he sat down to enjoy his meal, the cats pounced onto the table and stole his food.
At the behest of the Rabbinical Court, the couple attempted reconciliation.
Because the wife was willing to lose husband and not her pets, attempts at reconciliation were unsuccessful.
