ACM: Taylor Swift wins Entertainer of the Year

Las Vegas - LAST UPDATE, 9:58 P.M. CST: She was the only female in the crowd but that didn't stop Taylor Swift from winning the Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, held in Las Vegas April 1.

--- The Academy of Country Music Awards, which will be handed out tonight, will surely be a party for fans and viewers. It will air live on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. EST/7 CST. It will be tape-delayed for fans in the Pacific time zone. Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire will once again host the festivities. Check back tonight and winners will be put in bold, with comments after the list of nominees.

Of course, today is April 1, so, there you go. His wife, Miranda Lambert will sing a heartfelt tune written with Blake about death. Plus, since he is the host, she needed a date and that is her mother. Grace Potter, ‘You and Tequila’ Notes: It won vocal event and this one, too. Meanwhile, Keith got the video with "Red Solo Cup." Another snub for Chesney. Perhaps he has won enough. Song of the Year Eli Young Band, ‘Crazy Girl’ Dierks Bentley, ‘Home’ Lady Antebellum, ‘Just a Kiss’ Vince Gill, ‘Threaten Me With Heaven’ Kenny Chesney feat. Grace Potter, ‘You and Tequila’ Notes: To many, this will be a surprise as Lady Antebellum was on a roll and Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter had the industry vote. Male Vocalist of the Year Jason Aldean Kenny Chesney Brad Paisley Blake Shelton Chris Young Notes: Blake wins and completes a husband and wife sweep of the top male and female awards. They are hot in a couple ways, one could say, but when will the love fade? Fame is fleeting and people quickly turn, but for now, it is theirs to enjoy. Female Vocalist of the Year Sara Evans Miranda Lambert Martina McBride Taylor Swift Carrie Underwood Notes: A fine and tough win noting the talent in this category. Vocal Duo of the Year Love and Theft Montgomery Gentry Steel Magnolia Sugarland Thompson Square Notes: Brooks and Dunn retired a couple years ago so this one is up for grabs. Perhaps Sugarland could have won it but that terrible Indiana concert tragedy didn't help. Especially since they blamed the fans for the stage collapse. Vocal Group of the Year The Band Perry Eli Young Band Lady Antebellum Rascal Flatts Zac Brown Band Notes: KISS presents this award and should get one for showing up at a country event. The pandering award, perhaps. Lady A, looked over in two majors tonight, nabs this one. Album of the Year Eric Church, ‘Chief’ Miranda Lambert, ‘Four the Record’ Kenny Chesney, ‘Hemmingway’s Whiskey’ Jason Aldean, ‘My Kinda Party’ Lady Antebellum, ‘Own the Night’ Notes: So far, a no go for Chesney as Lambert take this one. Truth be told, this was a tough category to pick. Vocal Event of the Year Aaron Lewis feat. George Jones and Charlie Daniels, ‘Country Boy’ Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay’ Brad Paisley feat. Alabama, ‘Old Alabama’ Brad Paisley feat. Carrie Underwood, ‘Remind Me’ Kenny Chesney feat. Grace Potter, ‘You and Tequila’ Notes: This was given to Aldean during the arrivals tonight. Odd? Not really since this usually doesn't get big play.
