As of this writing it is Monday, March 19th, 2012 and day one of the Lady Gaga silent treatment. She's not talking to the world for a long while, not in the manner in which the world mostly hears from her, through print media and television.
The Fame Monster declared she would not be talking to media anymore on 'Oprah's Next Chapter' and the show aired Sunday the 18th on Winfrey's
OWN network. She sounded firm about her intention to stop the talk. "Other than this interview, Oprah, I do not intend to speak to anyone for a very long time," she said from the living-room of the New York apartment that she grew up in. "No press, no television."
Gaga on 'Born This Way Ball'
Presumably she will talk to those who get her tweets - she's got roughly 21 million followers - but those are just 140 character talks and designed more for marketing purposes. She is going out on a
world tour, 'The Born This Way Ball' starting in Seoul, South Korea on April 27, so in a manner of speaking she'll be talking through her songs.
But no more direct talking to media about her music, life, nothing. Not on "The Ellen Degeneres Show' or in 'Vanity Fair' or 'Harpers Bazaar' or any of the other press that helped her sell records. Will Lady Gaga be missed? Maybe but, as most married men know when the wife tries the silent treatment, the husband often finds it a nice respite. In the case of Lady Gaga, either fans will clamor for her insights or if she'll pine for the attention. This reporter's prediction?
They don't call her the Fame Monster for nothing - so give her a month, tops.
