David McCallum, a father of three, has admitted at the High Court in Glasgow that he is guilty of raping three girls when they were aged between 9 and 12, twenty years ago.
According to
BBC News, the attacks took place whilst McCallum was babysitting the girls at addresses in Clydebank, Cumbernauld, Dornoch and Stirling.
Although he pleaded guilty at the
High Court in Glasgow,
Judge Lord Bannatyne granted McCallum bail, as he is the primary carer for his wife, who suffers from Alzheimers, osteoporosis and arthritis.
However, Lord Bannatyne warned McCallum that his next appearance in court, due to be sometime next month, would result in a jail sentence, "In view of the very special circumstances I will continue bail so that you can arrange for your wife's care. However, you should understand the inevitable result of appearing back before me will be a custodial sentence. I'm granting you bail only because your wife is in a very serious condition and you care for her."
Following the proceedings, McCallum was placed on the sex offender's register. Sentence has been deferred until next month whilst the court carries out background reports.
