Shoppers at a Lawrence, Kansas, Target were pleasantly surprised when a group from the Meadowlark Estates Gracious Retirement Living community staged a flash mob that will surely be one to remember from the 2011 holiday season.
While they may not have been the most talented group that has taken on the challenge of creating an original performance, the utter joy on their faces makes this one a hit on the 'going viral' scale of YouTube videos.
The video of the Christmas flash mob was uploaded to YouTube this week and vaulted the seniors to Internet fame, which led to an appearance on News 6 Lawrence.
The song is a classic by George Michael from his early days with Wham, and was released in 1984. It was featured on the hit show Glee and inspired the seniors, one of whom was on oxygen, to stage their own flash mob singing "Last Christmas," I gave you my heart.
Commenters to the YouTube video have called the clip "heartwarming and genuinely entertaining" and wonder what's next for the lively group.
