If Elmo were a person and not a muppet, he’d be red-faced with embarrassment that the father of a kindergartener allegedly hid marijuana in his son’s Elmo backpack.
A lesson might be if you’re going to stash your stash in your kid’s backpack, don’t call the school, because they might look for it.
That probably wasn’t the goal of Ronald Washington, 33, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, when he called Menallen Elementary School to inquire if his son had arrived at school, police said.
Washington told school officials that he left something in the child’s Elmo bag and wanted to come to school to retrieve the item, police said.
That prompted school personnel to search the boy’s bag where they found nearly four ounces of marijuana, police said.
School officials called
state troopers, who were waiting for Washington when he arrived at the school, police said.
Washington was arrested and is being held on possession charges. He was unable to make bail set at $100,000, police said.
