A fire broke out near Diamond Bar, California threatening homes and burning near three freeways. KNX News Radio reports that the fire started about 11:45 AM.
Diamond Bar Is located about 25 miles east of Los Angeles. It is a rather hilly area. The fire is near three major freeways of southern California. The freeways are Route 60, Route 57 and the 71. Authorities say eight fires broke out in the area and they appear to be suspicious. The smoke affected drivers on the freeway near the fire. The fire is about 25 miles west of where this reporter lives. I can see brownish smoke on the horizon. It is a very warm day in this area.
KCAL Channel 9 reports that two super scooper airplanes and one water dropping helicopter are on the scene. Some 250 firefighters are on the scene trying to get a handle on the fire. The freeways are still open despite the fires burning nearby. Log onto www.knx1070.com and www.cbs2.com/kcal for more on the fires
