When it comes to executives Daniel M.P. Wilson doesn't fit the profile. He lives in a small Ontario, Canada town and enjoys acting, hockey and golf. He does math homework. And just barely a teen, Wilson has a unique job at one of the top toy stores.
Wilson is the newest "Chief play officer" for Toys 'R' Us Canada. At 13, Wilson's job is to play for the next year.
Wilson's feet haven't touched the ground since he got the job, reports Metro News. He's got a cushy job that doesn't require a lot of traveling, as his work place is in his family room. And Daniel doesn't have to dictate notes to a secretary -- all he has to do is play and blog about it.
A play officer at the company gives adults a kid's perspective on hot toys each season.
Wilson won the position for the English Canadian division after going to a call that went out to performing arts agencies. He beat out 100 other kids for the year-long position.
He says he has 13 years of experience to perform his job, playing and babysitting his younger brother this summer.
His salary is not known, a part of the terms of his contract.
New York toy industry analyst Christopher Byrne thinks the position is just a gimmick, with the toy giant going for the cute factor.
Toys 'R' Us spokeswoman Liz MacDonald says the job is a way to show the company is all about kids.
