Pacquiao's Canadian adviser, Michael Koncz says his team dosn't need Floyd Mayweather for his next fight, prefering Shane Mosley and Julio Chavez over the former pound-for-pound king.
Manny Pacquiao's Canadian adviser Michael Koncz says his team does not need Floyd Mayweather for the Filipino boxer's post Cotto fight.
Asked if the team wants to do a Mayweather fight, he says 'Of course we want to do Mayweather'. But we won't be railroaded and pushed around, bullied around'.
Koncz believes that Pacquiao will win the fight and when that happens, the Filipino boxing icon's popularity will surge just like what happened in the de la Hoya-Pacquiao match.
Koncz admitted that his team would love to do a Mayweather-Pacquiao match but he said his team is not desperate to have a Mayweather fight
He said Mosley and Chavez are the other options.
abs-cbn news.com reports:
“We'd love to make the Mayweather fight. I think it will be a great fight for the fans. I think the fans want to see it. But again we're not desperate for it,” he declared.
“We’ve had open line communications with their people over the last year so they know what terms we're looking for… We’re not gonna chase Mayweather, absolutely not.”
Earlier Pacquiao says Mayweather does not care if the fans enjoys his fight or the fight is boring so long as he gets his money after the fight. The Filipino boxing champion says he likes to see his fans happy whenever he climbs the ring, adding that a boxer has big responsibility to the people and to boxing fans.
Boxing fans around the world are salivating a Pacquiao -Mayweather match next year. But Pacquiaos promoter Bob Arum downplayed the possibility of a match with Mayweather in 2010, saying that the fight will not happen if Mayweather continues his unreasonable demands.
He said Mayweather is demanding a 60-40 purse sharing in his favor but Team Pacquiao see the offer as an insult to the current pound-for-pound king. Pacquiao likewise believes that Mayweather does not want to fight him.
