All rounder Shahid Afridi has denied the rumors of having differences with captain Younis Khan who has agreed to remain the team’s captain despite the match-fixing scandal.
Pakistan’s cricket all-rounder star Shahid Afridi has denied the rumor of having any rivalry or differences with Captain Younis Khan. Younis has returned to the team as captain after handing over a resignation following charges of match-fixing and deliberately losing to Australia in the Champions Trophy Cricket Tournament early this month.
Speaking to media on Thursday, Afridi said that he was happy to have Younis back as the team’s captain and he had no difference of opinion with the captain. He added that people have been trying to create differences between them through such rumors but would not succeed in the same. Afridi said that he and Younis got along well and that denied the media reports that he had tried to put Younis out of team captaincy.
Afridi also expressed confidence in the team’s capability to win the forthcoming one-day series against New Zealand despite Pakistan’s disappointing performance against the Kiwis in the Champions Trophy 2009.
