In a report which should be satire, an implausible account of a half goat, half man is being reported in a Zimbabwe village.
The report of a deformed goat being born in Lower Gweru, Zimbabwe has prompted villagers to describe the progeny of a doe as a half goat, half man. A satyr in other words. The original report at The Zimbabwean Guardian notes the goats owner, Mr. Nyoni, as suggesting his goat had never produced such a progeny prior to this incident.
Pictures of the 'beast' can be found at News.Com.AU and a close-up of the head here at BILD
Midlands Governor and Resident Minister Jason Machaya stated
"...it was disgracing that a man can stoop so low opting for animal company in a world full of women. This incident is very shocking. It is my first time to see such an evil thing. It is really embarrassing. The head belongs to a man while the body is that of a goat. This is evident that an adult human being was responsible. Evil powers caused this person to lose self control.”
No mention is made of the more embarrassing belief of Minister Machaya that it would be possible for a goat and a human to produce offspring despite the chromosomal differences.
The villagers did note that even the village dogs were afraid to be near the goat beast and also that the creature had lived only a few hours before the corpse was burned.
“Normally, dogs like to play around a goat when it has just given birth. This time the dogs kept their distance. This is indeed a miracle that has never been witnessed anywhere,” said one elderly villager, Themba Moyo.
